Maintenance FAQ

Got questions? We got answers.

How do your maintenance plans work?

Our maintenance plans are specifically designed to help you get ahead and stay ahead of your competition, all while saving time and money. Starting at just $3/day (which is less than a cup of coffee at Starbucks!) we'll tweak and update your site on a monthly basis to help you stay ahead of your competition. Each plan comes with a certain number of hours each month that we will dedicate to improving your website. We'll use your site's analytics and data to make informed decisions that are designed to drive more traffic and increase conversions.

Additionally, this hourly budget includes any changes you'd like us to make to your site. Clients who don't have maintenance plans end up paying $90/hour for revisions, rounded up to the nearest 15 minutes. With a maintenance plan, you defer those fees by giving yourself a significant buffer in case you need something done to your site and don't have the time to do it.

What does the maintenance plan cover/not cover?

Maintenance plans specifically cover web design and development related changes. In other words, we don't include any search engine optimization with your plan (although you can stack a search engine optimization plan on top of your maintenance plan). We also don't include any content writing or content creation. For example, we won't write your blog posts, but we can post things to your site that you've already written.

Instead, we'll use your website's analytics and data to make informed design decisions, then act on those decisions. For example, if your bounce rate is higher than usual, we'll experiment with new layouts that keep visitors engaged. We'll also spend time increasing site performance and speed by reducing file sizes, or make it more accessible with alt text and accessibility attributes. We'll also brainstorm adding new features or interactions that will enhance your user's experience. Finally, we'll deliver analytics reports to you monthly or quarterly to check in on your site's performance.

Additionally, any changes you need made to the site (post something, re-word something, add/change an image) are included in this hourly budget.

What happens if we go over the monthly budget?

We won't go over the monthly budget on our own accord – in other words, we'll spend a maximum of x hours per month maintaining your site. We think the best way to explain this is with a series of four scenarios. For the following scenarios, let's assume you are on the Premium plan and have 4 hours of included maintenance per month.

Scenario 1: You request 0 hours of changes in one month. So, we'll max out your maintenance hours by doing 4 hours of maintenance, and you are only charged the retainer price for your plan.

Scenario 2: You request 2 hours of changes in one month. We'll max out your remaining hours by doing 2 hours of maintenance, and you are only charged the retainer price for your plan.

Scenario 3: You request 4 hours of changes in one month. Since you've used up your included changes, we won't do any maintenance to your site in that month, and you are only charged the retainer price for your plan.

Scenario 4: You request 6 hours of changes in one month. After 4 hours of changes have been made, we inform that you will go over your monthly budget, at which point you can tell us to stop there and make the rest of the changes in the following month, or you can go over budget for that month. You decide to go over. We finish up the maintenance. Since you went over, we will bill you for the retainer price for your plan, and separately invoice you for the hourly rate multiplied by the excess hours.

Will I have to sign an annual contract?

Absolutely not.

We believe that locking our clients into an annual or semi-annual contract goes against our mission of providing high quality service to each client. If you are unsatisfied with our service for any reason (and we don't think you will be) you should have the right to cancel or modify your plan without penalty. It helps keep both parties accountable and ensures that we're always providing the best possible service to you.
